Frequently Asked Questions

In a standard 4/4 time signature, the 3rd beat is traditionally considered "relatively strong" or has a secondary accent.

Here is the hierarchy of beats in a typical 4/4 measure:

Beat 1: The "Downbeat" – The strongest accent (Heavy).

Beat 2: Weak.

Beat 3: The "Secondary Downbeat" – Stronger than beats 2 and 4, but weaker than beat 1 (Half-heavy).

Beat 4: The "Upbeat" – Weakest (leads back to the next 1).

But we build the option "Just first beat accented" to achieve the specific pattern where only the 1 is accented
