The selected instrument and tuning in smartChord can differ from those used in the Fretboard Trainer.

When you create a new exercise, you can choose one of your favorite instruments, the tuning, the fret range, and much more.

Once a quiz has been created, it cannot be changed — you can only play it. This is intentional, as it ensures that results remain comparable.
If you need different settings, you can create a new quiz via “Folder menu → New”. This will open the Create Exercise screen, where you can configure the quiz, including input/output modules, instrument, and tuning.
