Scale Degrees
The Scale Degrees quiz challenges you to identify or locate notes based on their functional role within a specific scale and key. Instead of thinking in absolute note names like “E” or “G”, you focus on the interval relative to the tonic, such as the “Major 3rd” or “Perfect 5th”. This is essential for understanding melodic patterns, improvising, and visualizing the fretboard through the lens of music theory.
- Locate scale degree: You are given a specific scale degree, and you must find it on the fretboard within the context of the active scale and key. Tap the correct location on a string to enter your answer.
- Identify scale degree: A specific position on the fretboard is highlighted. You must identify which scale degree that note represents.
